Holly Fay - Why is the Brush Stroke so Evident?

*Why do you want the brush stroke to be so evident?*

Because it’s paint and you know sometimes it’s not evident because I am using glazing, so it’s this kind of translucent building up of the paint. But you know I really want to physically push the paint around. I think if you are painting, it should be partially about the paint as well. So for me, the paint, it starts to represent things in the landscape - the natural element again, that kind of layering, and history that is going on. So it has to be built up in layers - it has to be pretty thick to suggest that.
