Artist as Activist

Art is a way of communicating.  Artists may use written or spoken words, visual images, three-dimensional forms and objects, or even performances in order to say what they think needs to be expressed.

Sometimes, the message of the work of art is more important than the method used to paint it, or the material used to sculpt it. Artists can even be activists, trying to change the world through subtle or sometimes strident political messages embedded in their work.
