Neal McLeod

About the Artist

Neal McLeod's cultural heritage is  CreeThe largest group of First Nations in Canada, and part of the Algonquian language family. See the Canadian Encyclopedia for more information:  and he grew up on the James Smith First Nation. Neal McLeod is a multi-  mediaAny material and technique used to produce a work of art (paint, glass, clay, fibre, video, sound, etc.). It may also refer to the liquid with which powdered pigments are mixed to make paint. Note that the plural form of “medium” is “media.”  artist as well as a poet, film maker, painter, performer, curator, writer and teacher.  He currently (2007) lives and teaches at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario.

Gabriel Yahyahkeekoot is originally from Beardy’s and Okemasis First Nation but he grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan.  He is a  multi-mediaIn personal computing, software and applications that combine text, high quality sound, graphics, and animation or video. (  artist and in this collaboration he displays an example of his video production.  He is also a writer who has produced poetry and rap dialogue and published work in major magazines.  Much of his work is based on his reactions to the place he lives and he is a leader and a role model for many Aboriginal youth in Regina.
