Joanne Bristol

About the Artist

Joanne Bristol received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and a Master of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her work has been exhibited across Canada, at the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon, as well as in Toronto, Montreal, and Halifax. Bristol’s works are often concerned with the production of knowledge; and many are constructed to allow the reader/viewer to question how knowledge is gathered and presented. She often uses humour as a device to challenge our usual ways of thinking about how knowledge is created.
